A quota post (with a quota photo of a quota post and link to a post about a post about a post about a quota photo and a quota photo) and another quota photo

This is getting silly now. Search engines won’t like a title this long (I’ll save you the time: 156 characters).
And my brain hurts.
And do I need an Oxford comma in there… somewhere? I think I probably do.

But anyway, here’s the photo:

And here’s the link.

Once again, there shouldn’t be any need to feel remorse for posting quota photos or quota posts. Especially if they feature an Imperial Stormtrooper. It’s not as if (as a blogger) your readers are paying for content. That’s not to say that if the time and the impetus are present, you shouldn’t be churning out good quality posts either. It’s just that real life regularly gets in the way of time and impetus being present.

Those of you who read to the end of the title and could be bothered to decipher it, will have realised that a further quota photo is required. Here it is, appropriately thinned down, Micklethwait-style.

And here’s the original.

Brian, if you’re reading, shall we leave it here? 🙂

Spiderfan

While all the world was watching the  swimming gala, I’d spotted this (not so) little guy hiding nearby, cheering from the sidelines:

Not being an arachnidologist (and not even believing that that word even exists), I’m not sure what sort of spider it is, although I am relatively sure that it is a spider.
I’ll get the full size version up on Flickr in the near future.

Italian Warship

The Carlo Bergamini is in town. It’s an Italian Navy frigate named after (shock) Carlo Bergamini, the Italian Navy Admiral, and it’s at the Waterfront. We tried to get a look around it, but approximately 74,000 people had the same idea, so we took the kids on a harbour cruise instead.

There are some photos of the big, grey ship here, but this was my favourite big, grey pic of the day.

After a superb wedding yesterday (not mine), during which I drank all of the wine in Constantia, and then a day in the Cape Town heat, I’m turning in for an early night tonight.

Istanbul at night

Long story short, Mrs 6000 went to Spain to visit a friend and then got stuck in Istanbul on the way home. Given that she had an enforced 24 hours in the city, she did a quick tour and then had a pricey drink in a hotel bar in Beyoglu with this view:

There are obviously a lot more photos taken in Spain and Turkey, and I’ll see if she wants them uploaded to Flickr, but in the meantime, I’m sharing this as my favourite. Using a unfamiliar camera, in the dark and just pointing and shooting, I think we can agree that this is fairly spectacular. #NoFilter

I now want to visit Istanbul. At night.

Kids’ Morning

The kids deserved a bit of a treat this weekend. With Mum away, their routine has been disturbed, and they’ve handled it really well. I’m very proud of the way they’ve helped me out and got stuff done.
Thus, we headed to the Waterfront for slush and fish at the Aquarium, semi-precious stones at the Scratch Patch and a quick round of Cave Golf (it’s like putt-putt, but in a faux cavern).
The morning was completed with a freshly made crêpe with lashings of Nutella at the V&A Food Market.

The camera has gone on holiday with Mrs 6000, so I went quick and dirty with my phone and willfully shared photos all over Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for family and friends to share our morning out. I’ve also gathered them together them on Flickr for a more lasting collection of memories.
