First pics

I’ve taken a bit of time out to sift through the [MILLION] photos we’ve taken so far on our Heading North 2012 trip and have popped about 100 onto Flickr.

For friends, family or anyone else that has shown an interest, the London pics are here, the first lot of Disneyland Paris ones here and Alex and my day out in Paris here. There will probably be more added to each of the sets in good time, but I’m tired of playing on Flickr now and I’m going for a beer.

Deal with it.

Castle II

This is another post not about beer. Sorry.

I mentioned a Castle last week in my quota photo post “Castle“. That Castle was Castle Rushen in Castletown, Isle of Man, which overlooks Castletown harbour, which is where I will be taking part in the WTBC next week. Still with me?

Anyway, that aside, almost immediately after seeing my Castle post, Flickr Blog did a Castle post of their own (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery):

Obviously, that’s not Castle Rushen – look at those vast tracts of land with not a harbour in sight. In fact, this is Boldogköváralja in Hungary, although interestingly, both castles were constructed simultaneously in the 12th and 13th Centuries.

Actually, I’m not sure how interesting that is, but here are some nice photos of Boldogköváralja.

I will endeavour to get you some nice pictures of Castle Rushen to go with them. Watch this space.

Castle

I’ve been running and then I’ve been packing. Things I have almost broken this evening include my right ankle and my age-old rucksack. I fear this will be its last trip abroad. The rucksack might have to go too.

This is a photo from our last family trip up north. It features Castle Rushen, the Manx flag and blue skies. It seems likely that we’ll probably see two of those things this time too.

Wave, Daddy

Back from Agulhas and although, as I suspected, the stormy conditions last week led to some huge waves battering the Southern Tip. Sadly, while they those waves were doing their thing, I was sensibly sheltering from the rain, playing lego with the boy in front of a nice open fire.

When we eventually emerged, things had subsided a bit.

Still, there was the odd one which reminded you of the power of the ocean. But mainly, today was devoted to finding interesting shells and throwing big stones into the sea.

Perfect.

I’ll upload some more photos tomorrow.

Heron

This is just a test post to test something out on the blog. You can ignore it if you wish, but after the recent Jacob Zuma art furore, I have put an arty picture in to make people look.

(Never fear, there is no spear):

This should cause thousands of people to bunk off work and walk to my gallery blog, hopefully subscribing and clicking on some adverts along their way.

(Hello Nicole. Did it work?)
