A year ago (or so)…

A year ago (or so), we were in Mauritius. And thus, when I was looking for a quota photo to put onto the site for what is promised to be a rather damp day in Agulhas, I thought I’d take a trip back there via Flickr.

This – the Mighty Servant 3 – was one of the large vessels sitting on the anchorage off Port Louis which we passed as we headed south to see and swim with the dolphins at the improbably named bay of Flic-en-Flac.

We’ve seen some Mighty Servant action off Agulhas as well (like this). But as you will see if you click through on that link, we were a bit closer on this occasion.

Placeholder puffin

I pre-wrote a few posts for this period while I am bundu-bashing in Southern Namibia. The last one of those gets published tomorrow.

It may seem odd, but I didn’t write them in date order. And the upshot of that method is that I haven’t written a post for today. All the others are done – including tomorrow’s (you’re going to love it). Just nothing for today yet. But with life getting ever more hectic as we head towards Friday and all that it holds (that’s last Friday for you guys reading this, so “held”, I guess), there’s a chance I might forget.

So here’s a Placeholder Puffin just in case that happens.

Of course, if I do write a post for today, you’ll never see Percival the Placeholder Puffin. If you’re reading this, I ran out of time.

Live Fast, Die Young.

Here’s an amusing cartoon for you, because I’m not around to give you anything else right now. The wind appears to have dropped just enough for some flying over Struisbaai. 

The appliance I’m using is fast and young. However, I fully intend to delay the dying bit for as long as possible.

Have a good weekend. Ooh – and look out for an interesting astronomical phenomenon tomorrow – tune in here from 9am for that news.

As in, this view is still. And it could be much, much worse.

Incoming from Mr A Contact. This gorgeous image of Ladybower Reservoir, just down the road from the family pile in Sheffield.

Gorgeous. A hint of frost on the fields in the (?)early morning sunlight. And that mirror in the middle is the water supply for Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham. It’s not quite “Antarctic Ice Shelf” pure, but it honestly can’t be far off.

Ja. Cape Town may be beautiful, but my home turf certainly has its moments too.
