Quota photo courtesy of Web Africa

I am typing away on Mrs 6k’s laptop, 3G modem lodged firmly in its side. The reason for this is the supposedly seamless network switch by Web Africa, which I think is taking place this evening. I must have caught the switch right in the middle, because I have absolutely no internet connection at home. I tried to call, but they’re very busy this evening, sorting out other customers who have found the seam they thought they didn’t have.

Recalling the email which I skim read at work today, I can go onto their forum and discuss any problems I might have. The crushing stupidity of that statement didn’t actually hit me until this evening. And now it’s all too late.

Today’s quota photo is a wonderful example of Phalacrocorax lucidus (obviously).
He’s sitting on a rock, drying his wings and wondering which ISP to swap to. Soon.

UPDATE: Goodbye WebAfrica, hello Afrihost. ‘Tis done.

Dragonfly

Yesterday was a great family day, with a rip to feed the ducks at the Arderne Gardens in Claremont, followed by an afternoon of drinking, swimming and braai’ing, none of which allowed any time to blog or play with any photos or watch any footy.
Today will also be a great family day and after an early start – because the kids woke us up early – we headed out to Hout Bay Market, which is very similar to the Christmas markets of Baveria and Austria, except that it’s 36°C at this one. This afternoon, some grandparental babysitting will be partaken of as Mrs 6000 and I nip over to Val de Vie to watch The Killers reverse supporting Zebra and Giraffe.

After the photos of the mayhem on Long Street and the views of the city, I thought that something a little smaller would be appropriate for a quota photo.

This little fellow stayed still just long enough for me to catch him (digitally) yesterday. Despite his diminutive stature, he’ll quite adequately bridge the gap between Saturday and Monday, when (I would imagine) a review of today’s concert will be available here.

Nothing to see here

It’s been totally hectic at work today, we’re interviewing for a new au-pair this evening and then I’m out with the Molton Brown Curry Club at Bihari in Newlands tonight. That is why there is nothing to see here.

I did stain some slides and look at some TB earlier. Here they are wearing their potassium permanganate counterstain and serving as a classic quota photo.

Meanwhile Ro (not to be confused with Po) suggested that since I liked this photo so much (and I really do like it), I should reblog it.
But then there would be something to see here, which would ruin everything.

Tomorrow – more writing, less pictures – I promise*.

2 quota photos (and with 2 good reasons as well)

Sunday evening quota photos, because a) My parents are currently in Cairns in Australia where the internet is still a decade away and are therefore missing their weekly Skype with their grandchildren and b) said grandchildren allowed us almost 3 hours of sleep last night.

Bigness here and here. Obviously, 6000 miles… will be my parents’ first port-of-call when they find an internet cafe and obviously, another reader (or two) lost because I’m posting another quota photo (or two) is of little concern to me when I’m as knackered as I am now.
