Out of office

I did think about using my time this afternoon to write a long blog post, the like of which hasn’t been seen on here since last week.

But maybe it was the early morning wake up call by the f*****g builders (yes, different builders to the ones that have been plaguing us in Cape Town for almost 6 months, and yes, today is a Sunday).

Maybe it’s the sea air (which is moving past the cottage at very, very high speed) or maybe it’s this morning’s beach walk in that gale force wind, but right now, I’m feeling that:

afternoon nap > long blog post

I realise that this decision won’t necessarily make some readers very happy, but please rest in the knowledge that I think it will make me very happy.

Assuming that the angle grinding stops soon.

Done

Ah yes. The blog post after the cathartic experience that I had been waiting for. Yes, hot and sunny, and yes, I do prefer the more tempestuous side of Cape Agulhas, but it was just amazing to get out, get some fresh air and have the beach (almost) to ourselves.

Normal service is resumed.

And that includes unsuccessful fishing in the rockpools.

We’ll be heading home shortly, but as ever, it’s been a wonderful getaway, and I’m already looking forward to our next visit.

Happy daze.

Day 541 – Beach walk

It seemed almost too easy to do 800m along the beach this morning. And that’s because – as I found out shortly afterwards – the 800m in question was very much wind-assisted.

We found that out when we came to turn around and head back to the village, directly into the teeth of a Force 8 gale. It was harder work that we’d imagined it would be.

I’d taken the camera down to see all of the wildlifes what would be there, (cos yesterday was good) but it was simply too windy for everything except a single Caspian Tern.

Anyway, I went and did it and I do feel better for the fresh air and what passes for exercise at the moment.

Tired, but happy.
