Home again. A great couple of days away, which would have been even better were it not for this damn virus.
I slept most of the way home.
I wasn’t driving.
Was I?
Let’s hope for an improvement tomorrow, and maybe sorting some photos.

Feeling very chilled out in the sticks. Yesterday evening was rough – I was not well – but I’m fighting back after a good night’s sleep and an additional nap this lunchtime.
Bit overcast this morning…

…but the muted yellows of the Klein Karoo scrub and the fresh greens of the local farmland really don’t need the full sun to make them pop.
And the mildly ethereal white horse finishes the view from the wood-fired hot tub nicely there.
Hoping for some clearer skies for a bit of night time ‘togging later, but that’s assuming I can find the energy to put up my tripod*.

As I mentioned yesterday, we spent the day at a wedding in Stellies.
An amazing celebration, topped off with that rugby match, and a tight South African win.
What a win, but oh, so tight.
Because it was a wedding, we spent half time on the dance floor. As you do.
‘Ave you seen me dancin’? I mean, really dancin’?
I never realised that dancing was so good for stress, but you can clearly see exactly where half time was on my watch.

To me, this actually proves that there might be something almost accurate in these measurements.
It also explains why I needed a stiff drink and another boogie once the game was over.

Lunchtime start

Rugby later
This may not end well
See you on the other side.x
A damp, grey morning in our (converted) prison accommodation. It looks a bit rough here, and while it’s far from luxurious, it’s actually very comfortable.

Each time I come here, I wonder if they could do something with this place, but given the history and the cultural sensitivity of Robben Island, I’m actually glad that they haven’t.
Hopefully though, they can maintain what is already here. I think that’s very important.
I was up early this morning, out for a run around the south of the island. I pitted myself against the local wildlife: steenboks, penguins and about a million tortoises.
I’m rather disappointed to report that – as far as species go – I finished in third place. These little buggers are faster than they look:

That photo was taken yesterday evening, by the way. No such lovely light this morning.
We’re heading home today after a presentation by Christo Brand, which I’m very much looking forward to.
Also family and my own bed. Always a winner.
