Ten

Happy tenth birthday to our energetic, well-mannered, adventurous, minecrafting (obviously), early-rising, football-playing, respectful, loving, not-so-little-anymore bundle of joy.

He needs to stop growing up so fast now. Please. Thanks.

And, you know what? Well done to us parents as well, and thanks to all the family and friends (not least the amazing Poliswa) who have helped us – and him – get this far.

Level up. Next step – surviving the teenage years.

One Boy And His Beagle

Despite feeling as rough as a nomad’s heel (my description, not his), Alex was still anxious to walk the dog last night.

I’d like to think that he was demonstrating some sort of selfless responsibility, but I think it was probably more to do with trying out the new extendable lead that Colin bought me for my birthday.

Either way, they both had fun.

Five

My little boy is not so little any more.
Today is his fifth birthday and that long, dark, chilly day at Cape Town Medi-Clinic seems a long long way back.

We’re very lucky to have such a great son and his sister is very lucky to have such a loving big brother. I guess that basically, what I’m saying here is that we’ve decided to keep him a bit longer.

Happy Birthday, Alex.
