First

A quick proud dad moment, as Little Miss 6000 braved a horse high on horse medicine (the horse, not her), an unfortunate incident involving a dog at the showground, and several or more injuries to her shoulder and leg to WIN the next round of jumping at the local horse jumping show.

A glorious red and white rosette is hers, and well-deserved it was too.

A great comeback in the face of adversity.

And that wasn’t it. Because Mrs 6000 also came home with a couple of rosettes for her performances on the back of a very lively horse. It’s actually amazing to live amongst equestrian greats like these.

Of course, theirs weren’t the only great rides on the day, but I will leave other parents and partners, and their blogs to inform you about just how good their offspring and spouses were this morning.
That’s for them to crow about, not me.

A good few hours, well spent.

All about horse

Today is all about football. I played 5-a-side this morning, during which I was compared to both Ibrahimovic and del Piero. Sadly, it was Keith Ibrahimovic, a plumber from Aylesbury, and Jennifer del Piero, a postgraduate history student from Boston. Still: it’s a start.

And just now, I’m going to put on my big boy pants and brace watching United at Wolves. Such is the injury crisis at Bramall Lane, I think Keith and Jennifer are both on the bench.

But if today is all about football. And it is – I just said that – yesterday was all about horse.

An early start in the grey, drizzly conditions out at Hout Bay for Little Miss 6000 to take half a ton of well-muscled ex-racehorse around the course at a show there:

And then quickly home for a shower and a change before heading out to Kenilworth Racecourse to watch Mrs 6000’s favourite horse come second in a very, very competitive field.

It was an amazing result.

A great day out then, although the weather was distinctly un-February-like: cold, wet, grey. But once you’re wet once, you’re wet. And the fun takes away the cold.

Sort of.

Day 720 – Live from the horse place

You join me live at the horse place for another Wednesday afternoon horse place post. The sun is shining, the wind is pomping, and there is horse stuff happening right in front of me.

My daughter is on a new horse today, and it’s about three times the size of the last horse she rode. You may remember this new horse from this post, in which it broke me a bit. We’re 200 days on from that though, and I would confidently hold the new horse today. Even though it is very big.

This morning was spent at the Waterfront, and this evening will be spent watching United (whichever version turns up tonight).

In the meantime, horse stuff.

Right there in front of me.
