World Cup Issues

A couple of World Cup images that caught my interest today.

Firstly, The Onion reports on an error that I’m shocked no-one had spotted before:

No wonder the Germans (and the Italians) (and the Spanish) (etc etc) are complaining about it.

And then, a little more seriously (I hope) the SABC Building, patriotically illuminated:

Look – it’s a great effort and it looks really beautiful, but when the flag is displayed vertically, the red should be on the left.
Not a big thing, but this is the national broadcaster.

Shouldn’t they know?

  1. Call me narrow minded, but I am so glad someone else has noticed that South Africans have no clue as to how to hang a flag.

A small shopping center in Rondebosch has all the World Cup National flags flying upside down (well the English flag is right πŸ™‚ ). The other symmetric flags (Germany Holland etc) are all still flipped left to right.

  2. I’m just impressed that The Onion, an American publication, now thinks that soccer (sorry) is worth printing an article on. That wouldn’t have happened eight years ago I’m sure.
