There’s a 28 metre long Escherichia coli in Sheffield city centre at the moment:
But don’t worry, it’s not going to infect you. It’s there to promote krebsfest – a celebration of all things Sir Hans Krebs.
I can’t get excited; that man ruined Biochemistry 101 for me and everyone else who wasn’t weird.
You’ve inspired a trip to the Winter Gardens today. E. Coli is huge. Finding the snake amongst the undergrowth (again) inspired the boy more though. I too, do not have fond memories of Krebs cycle, but was unaware that it was made in Sheffield.
Dr F > Ah. UK life. We try to prevent our kids from finding snakes in the undergrowth.
Bad stuff that happened in Sheffield should be expunged from the record.
Biochemistry lectures should be expunged from the record.
The synergy of expungification in this case would benefit everyone.
P.S. lower case initial letters for bacterial (and any other) species nomenclature, please. *tongue*
