Admyt hits Canal Walk – save LOADS!

It’s still one of the finds of recent times for me. It saved my son half an hour of queuing to pay for parking after the football last week. It means I don’t have to worry about whether a place takes cards for parking payments or if I have change or where I put my parking ticket or anything.

It’s live across SA at loads of locations, with more being added on a regular basis. Just like the behemoth mall that is Canal Walk. And because it’s launching there in Black Friday week, they’ve got a double deal on just for you. And you. OK, you as well.

Firstly, save R20 off your first (paid) parking by using my referral code when you sign up:

TRE162273

And then, once Admyt launches at Canal Walk on Thursday 28th, you can have free parking…

…for THREE DAYS there on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the promo codes below:

  • Free parking on Fri, 29 November | Promo code: CWBF29
  • Free parking on Sat, 30 November | Promo code: CWBF30
  • Free parking on Sun, 1 December | Promo code: CWBF01

So that’s no ticket to lose, no change to have to find to pay, no queues to brave on the way out when you’re exhausted and just want to go home, and that swanky VIP feeling as you drive to the barrier and it opens to wave you straight through.

The first three are really handy; the last one is still just very cool.

Sign up on the interwebs here (not forgetting that referral code: TRE162273), and then get the app on Apple here, or Google here.

R20 off your parking

I mentioned somewhere – ah, here it is – about Admyt…

…the still quite new, super-duper parking service in South Africa.
And since then, literally several people have used my code:

TRE162273

to earn R10 off their first parking experience with Admyt.

Now, in an incredible offer, if you sign up for Admyt anytime in June – you can get the app on Apple here, or Google here – and use that code, you’ll get twenty whole bucks credited to your balance.

R20 might not seem so much, but next time you’re standing in the queue to pay for your parking in the cold and the rain at the V&A Waterfront, Constantia Uitsig or any of these other Admyt locations – you’ll surely be kicking yourself as you watch me drive up to the barrier – warm and dry – and automatically whizz straight through, as you fumble for change – ironically exactly twenty rands worth – in your pockets.

It’s free to sign up, and there’s no obligation and no payment to be made until you use the service – and, if your first parking session costs less than R20 – no payment to be made there either. Amazing.

You literally have nothing to lose.

Admyt hiccup

Heading into the V&A today to smash MARBLE, Hinthunt‘s latest escape room, (<20% success rate in the 8 weeks it’s been open), we overcame the initial challenge of actually getting to the room to escape from, despite the horrific traffuck on the way into town. Buoyed by this early success, I confidently drove up to the car park barrier and waited for Admyt to do its thing.

But nothing happened. Eek.

However, I did immediately get an email telling me that nothing had happened, and also explaining how to sort the situation out:

So even though it didn’t recognise my number plate, it also clearly did recognise my number plate enough for it to send me an email saying that it didn’t recognise my number plate.

And yes, attached to the side of the ticket machine was an admyt QR code, which clearly circumnavigates the need for full on recognition of your number plate.

All’s well that ends well, then. And this did end well.

A reminder that you can get the app on Apple here, or Google here. Then use this code:

TRE162273

to get R10 off your first parking bill. And look like a superstar as you sweep into car parks nationwide.

(Oh, and yes, we nailed the escape room with almost 10 minutes to spare… Dangerous Rodney Dream Team Massive.)

So far, so good

We were all a bit totes emosh taking the beagle out to Paarl this morning for her op. But the news is good: things went well and she’s come around safely after her procedure. Some minor complications therein, but nothing huge, so it’s looking positive for just a couple of nights away from home.

What does that mean for our New Year plans? Well, let’s see. But more on that tomorrow.

So while we wait, life goes on here.

One child is off partying in the Waterfront: in December, nogal. There were only a couple of positives about this: I used Admyt and got a freebie, and we took the opportunity (since we were in town dropping said child off, anyway) to knock out a gentle 8km along the Prom.
Very busy. Very hot. Very sunny. Would not advise.

Safely back and straight into the pool, and now the only thing I still need to do this evening is to go into town and do a fetch and carry from the Waterfront. Hopefully all of the traffics will have gone by then, and I can just enjoy a nice drive into the sunset.

And back.

Car Parking Magic

This is not a paid post or an ad. It’s just a very cool idea (with an introductory offer, nogal!).

I used the “new” Admyt app to do some car parking earlier this week. While it might be commonplace in some countries for ANPR and an app to bill you for parking, in SA it still feels like some kind of magic as the car park barrier lifts in front of you as you pull in at the Waterfront parking lot.

Yo, VIP!

And there’s no more fumbling and stumbling around for change or worrying about misplaced or missing tickets. When you’re done, just get into your car, and drive out of the car park.

Magic again.

You can get the app on Apple here, or Google here. Then use this code:

TRE162273

to get R10 off your first parking bill (a promo that covered my parking on my recent Waterfront visit).

It’s very cool. Give it a go.
